Our Programmes

Three Courses, Each With a Clear Purpose

Each programme is self-contained, focused on a specific area of financial life in Malaysia, and designed to be completed by working adults alongside their other commitments.

How We Teach

Our Teaching Methodology

Northvane's approach is built around a few consistent principles that apply across all three courses.

Structured Progression

Each session builds logically on the previous one. You do not need to research supplementary material — the course is designed to be complete in itself.

Malaysian Examples Only

No translated concepts from other markets. All instruments, regulations, and case studies reflect the Malaysian context specifically.

Recorded and Replayable

Sessions are recorded so you can return to sections as often as needed. Twelve months of access from enrolment date.

Written to Be Used

Materials are formatted for writing in, not just reading. Worksheets, ledgers, and comparison tables are part of every course.

Household finances worksheet

Course One

Plain Numbers for Midlife Households

A patient introductory course for adults in their forties and fifties who want to understand their household figures without any prior background. Participants are walked through tracking monthly inflows and outflows, separating recurring obligations from discretionary spending, and reading the basic terms on payslips, EPF statements, and bank summaries.

The tone is conversational and the pace is unhurried, with worksheets that can be filled in over a quiet weekend. Suitable for those who have always handled money on instinct and would now like a clearer view.

What the Course Covers

  • Reading and organising monthly household inflows and outflows
  • Understanding payslip terminology — gross pay, deductions, EPF, SOCSO
  • Interpreting an EPF Annual Statement
  • Separating fixed obligations from variable and discretionary spending
  • Building a simple monthly household summary you can maintain yourself

Course Format

5 recorded sessions
~40 minutes each
Printable household ledger

Course Two

Reading the Fixed Income Shelf

A six-week course that takes a careful look at the fixed income options available in Malaysia — fixed deposits, Amanah Saham, Malaysian Government Securities, sukuk, and corporate bonds — explaining what each instrument is, who it tends to suit, and where the often-overlooked risks sit.

Lessons examine how interest-rate movements ripple through bond prices, what credit ratings communicate and what they leave unsaid, and how to read a simple bond term sheet without specialist training. Built for participants who hold cash savings and want to consider whether a portion might be better placed elsewhere.

What the Course Covers

  • Fixed deposits: structures, rates, and what the fine print says
  • Amanah Saham: how dividends are determined and what the risks are
  • Malaysian Government Securities and sukuk explained plainly
  • Corporate bonds: credit ratings, default risk, and term sheets
  • How interest-rate changes affect the value of bonds you already hold

Course Format

6-week programme
Moderated weekly discussion
Glossary and comparison sheets
Bond term sheet reading guide

Course Three

Property in the Second Half of Life

A thoughtful exploration of property decisions facing adults in midlife, including downsizing, inter-generational ownership, refinancing during a longer working horizon, and the practical tax and legal points around selling, gifting, or holding.

Sessions cover the realities of valuing a home that has been lived in for decades, the costs that often surprise people at the point of sale, and how property fits alongside EPF and other retirement assets. Topics are presented without urging any particular path — the aim is informed reflection rather than action.

What the Course Covers

  • Valuation of a long-held property: how it works and what affects the figure
  • Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) — when it applies and how it is calculated
  • Refinancing options and what they mean in your fifties versus forties
  • Downsizing: financial and practical considerations
  • Gifting or transferring property to children: stamp duty, legal costs, implications
  • How property fits within a broader retirement picture alongside EPF

Course Format

10 in-depth modules
Anonymised case studies
Closing review with facilitator
12 months access

Course Fee

RM 2,250
